Act now to ensure rugby has a future

RUGBY faces an almighty battle to attract youngsters amid the publicity surrounding ex-players’ brain injuries and the early onset of dementia.
Progressive Rugby’s recommendations to enforce an immediate 21-day non-negotiable blanket for a brain injury and reducing the tackle height to nipple height are sensible.
World Rugby must act on them and there must be a limit of 25 games per year and lower for some positions such as front row forwards.
Competitions and money making must come second to player well-being.
