French kickers like their noisy support

DAVID James (letters July 3) wants Sir to be able to award an unkicked penalty if the crowd make a noise!
Are we going back to the Victorian Library regime here? Has Mr James never watched a game in France? If fans want to shout, sing and encourage their kickers let’s understand their enthusiasm. I know for a fact French kickers enjoy the support.
People outside our game don’t understand this continual reference to ‘the spirit of the game’ with respect to staying silent at a key point in play.
