AMID the furore concerning football’s European Super League, I wonder how the ambitious owner of Bristol City FC, Steve Lansdowne – who also owns Bristol Bears – felt about his club being denied the opportunity to progress from the Championship to European competition by the selfish actions of a bunch of rich and greedy owners.
Fair competition is the essence of sport and ring fencing by the self-interested few should be resisted, whatever the sport.
