Gwilliam also skipper for two Grand Slams

I READ with interest Lloyd D. Parry’s letter last week regarding Mefin Davies and in particular the last time Wales beat New Zealand in 1953, under the captaincy of John Gwilliam.
Mr Parry did not mention that while John Gwilliam played for Gloucester in the late 40s and early 50s, he was also the captain for the Welsh Grand Slams of 1950 and 1952.
And just for the record, John Gwilliam was also the captain of Gloucester on several occasions for that particular era.
