Simple tweaks can make the calendar run a lot smoother

FROM 2020, how best to accommodate the new rugby calendar for the Northern Hemisphere?
To start with, have the Champions Cup quarter-finals take place in January to ensure maximum time to sell semi-final tickets and for the travelling public to be able to make their arrangements.
For player welfare and to ‘find’ two weeks, the age-old argument comes back – scrap the Premiership playoffs. If your team is good enough to win the league why should they have to play-off against three losers unless it is merely a revenue raising exercise?
