Relegation play-off? That’s protectionism

I’M a supporter of Championship rugby but not the relegation proposal, and neither are other supporters whose views I have canvassed.
Last week’s Rugby Paper reported that Championship clubs have submitted a proposal to the RFU for an end of season play-off decider between the top of National One and the bottom of tier two, due to ‘funding differentials’.
Fans will tell you they want opportunity, fairness and consistency at both ends of the table. The top club should be promoted, the bottom club relegated. Other arrangements smack of protectionist shenanigans.
