Clubs will not release players for Test dates

WORLDRugby’s plan to salvage an Eight Nations’ tournament from the wreckage of their Test schedule ploughed into a new version of an old conflict yesterday.
The English and French clubs reaffirmed their refusal to accede to demands for the release of their Test players over an eight-week period from late October to early December. The impasse on either side of the Channel threatens an alternative competition involving the Six Nations plus Japan and Fiji.
