PAU’S return to this season’s Champions Cup competition for the first time since 2001 was far from a glorious one. They finished fifth in Pool 4 with just one win, at Scarlets, in four outings and dropped down to the Challenge Cup, where they will face Zebre in the round-of-16 in April.
They may have made barely a ripple in the top-table tri-league tournament this season but it’s beyond time, if you’ve not already got an eye on them, to watch out for the Top 14 side from the city in the shadow of the Béarn Pyrénée...
