Leicester Tigers was not where I played the most games, but it was where I learned the hardest lessons imaginable.
I joined the Tigers academy at 16. That meant moving away from home, living with a house parent and balancing A-levels with full-time rugby.
From the outside, it sounds like the dream. Inside, it was relentless.
The academy was essentially a pressure cooker. Everything was about testing how tough you were, physically and mentally.
