The choice for Yorath: Rugby or football?

AS A ferociously competitive component of Don Revie’s Leeds United, Terry Yorath, below, achieved the distinction of being the first Welshman to appear in a European Cup final. He did so in a losing cause against Bayern Munich 10 years after a ‘cringing’ experience he would never forget.
A scrum-half at Cathays High School in his native Cardiff, Yorath, who died this week at the age of 75, found himself selected simultaneously for the city’s under-15 rugby and football teams. Unable to keep both balls in play, he had to make a choice: rugby or football.
