Director of rugby Sanderson, below, who was delighted with their Champions Cup victory yesterday, 26-10 over the Sharks from South Africa, was optimistic about Sale’s chances before the start of the season.
However, one defeat in the second half of the Premiership will all but end their chances of making the top four.
Sale parted company with head coach Marco Bortolami four weeks ago, just six months after appointing the former Italy second row.
