Peter Jackson:

Paul Turner dropped his first goal in senior rugby on September 13, 1979, for Newbridge against Newport, and his last on January 6, 1996, for the pre-Sharks Sale against Orrell.

At a time when few bothered to keep track of such things, the Welshman’s career total of drops, all 122 of them, barely commanded much more than a few ripples of polite applause. Ironically, what ought to have been a big deal from the outset has gradually grown into one, enlarged with the passing of every season.
