Paul Rees: England are looking to expand their reach as World Rugby looking at eligibility of three Prem stars

England can hardly be said to be short of players, but they have persuaded World Rugby to look at the cases of three South Africans who have been trapped in an international no-man’s land after playing for their home country’s Under-20 side.

Back in the 2010s, some countries designated the Under-20s as their official second team and so anyone who made an appearance committed themselves internationally for life.
In 2018, World Rugby stopped unions slating the age-group side as an A team, but the move was not retrospective.
