MIKE Friday says poor marketing, an inconsistent domestic competition, and unrealistic expectations surrounding 15s is hindering rugby’s progress in America.
The Major League Rugby (MLR) season recently finished, and while the former USA Sevens coach acknowledges that there has been improvement in the on-field product, Friday points to deeper structural and cultural issues holding the sport back after the US national side suffered back-to-back home defeats to Spain (21-10) and England (40-5) following a 36-17 triumph over Belgium.
