Tom Clarkson had his pinch-me moment in Melbourne on Tuesday when he got off the bench for the Lions – and admitted no one was more surprised than him.

Prop Clarkson came off the bench for 29 minutes against the First Nations & Pasifika XV on Tuesday just nine days after being parachuted into the squad.
The 25-year-old had scored against Portugal as Ireland racked up 106 points before his Lisbon end of tour jolly was interrupted by Lions forwards coach John Fogarty asking him to come to Australia. But it needed a nudge from Ireland interim boss Paul O’Connell to get him on the plane.
