We are about to find out about the depth in England’s playing resources, and whether the Premiership produces enough players ready to take the step up to international level, as England face two away Tests against Argentina over the next fortnight.
Given the quality of Argentina’s win over the Lions, achieved without many of their French-based stars, England have to unearth enough of their own rising sons to win the first Test in La Plata on Saturday, and follow it up by clinching the series in San Juan, 700 miles to the west, a week later.
