Victor Matfield: Eben Etzebeth can reach 150 caps

Victor Matfield, who played 127 Tests for the Springboks and recently relinquished his record to Eben Etzebeth, believes that his protege can reach 150 Test matches or more, with the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia the next target for the towering lock.
In 2011, Matfield met a 19-year-old Etzebeth at his book launch. He signed a copy for the youngster, who was playing at under-19 level for Western Province, and told him: ‘Eben, I think you can be a Springbok next year.’
