SADLY, so soon after the untimely death of 27-year-old Jack Jeffrey while playing for Evesham RFC as the result of an injury during a game on the February 12, another young player has died.
Maddy Lawrence, 20, died 18 days after sustaining an injury while playing university rugby for UWE Bristol women’s 2nd team.
The loss of two young adult players so close together must raise questions at the highest levels of the game with player safety seemingly currently only a concern for those involved in the professional game.
