THE title “Renaissance Man” is a big one to bestow on a mere rugby player, but all things considered, there is nothing “mere” about Jamie Roberts.
A qualified doctor with a Master’s in medical science from Cambridge and a public anti-smoking activist to boot, he can also claim to be a fluent Welsh speaker, a half-decent guitarist – not everyone gets to play live with the Manic Street Preachers – and one of the Union game’s high-altitude achievers. That’s some going for a 35-year-old.
