Bears’ reject Alex on way to Sharks

SALE Sharks are poised to sign up former England U20 lock Alex Groves who was shown the door by Bristol Bears with immediate effect last week. Pat Lam decided that 6ft 5in Groves, 21, had no future at Ashton Gate with the two-year academy contract Groves signed in 2020 set to run out at the end of the season.
He was well down The Bears pecking order, but won’t be out of the game for long with the Sharks ready to throw him a career lifeline.
He is set to arrive in the North-West this week.
