Calcutta kick ban Jeffrey in top job

FORMER Scotland international John Jeffrey, once banned for six months for kicking the Calcutta Cup along Princes Street, Edinburgh, with England’s Dean Richards, has been elected chairman of the Six Nations Council for a threeyear term.
He takes over from Pat Whelan who had been chairman since April 2016.
Jeffrey is the first Scottish chairman since Allan Hosie in the late 1990s/ early 2000s.
Despite Jeffrey’s ban in 1988, Richards received only a one-match suspendion. The trophy was severely dented and cost hundreds of pounds to repair.
