CVC are taking ever bigger voice in rugby

THE insatiable desire of the private equity firm CVC to invest in Rugby Union has resulted in them closing in on a deal for a minority share in one of this sport’s most prized assets, the Six Nations.
Their bid for a 15 per cent stake in the annual tournament, which is frequently referred to ‘as the jewel in rugby’s crown’, is expected to harvest a £50m dividend for the English, Welsh, Irish, French, Scottish and Italian member unions.
