THE lure of European rugby proved too strong for Simon Hammersley to remain at Kingston Park so the Newcastle full-back will depart for Sale – as revealed on Blindside.
Hammersley, 26, exercised a relegation release clause to leave the club five appearances shy of reaching 100 for Falcons.
Director of rugby Dean Richards said: “While I understand Simon’s motivation to play at the highest level it is really disappointing to lose someone of his ability, who we have invested a huge amount of time and effort into.”
