Charlie Bray looked set to be a footballer until he abruptly told his coach that he’d had enough of the round ball game and wanted to devote his attention fully to rugby. The 17-year-old Sale Sharks back row, who is in the England U19s setup, made the early declaration of intent having been enticed by rugby’s values and physicality.
Bray has since carved out a reputation as a powerful, athletic prospect with size – 6ft 5in, 17st 6lbs (112kgs) – to match his ambition.
