WHETHER he knows it or not, my brother Nick (the former England No.8) was the biggest influence on my career; he showed to me that you didn’t have to follow the conventional path of playing England U16s/U18s to make it in the game.
Seeing him go from working in the City and playing for Rosslyn Park to the very top, gave me loads of confidence. I might not have reached the same heights as him but some of the big European games I played in were as close to Test matches as you could probably get.
