Fond farewell to Thumper, now Martyn will carry the can

WAYNE Pivac’s Wales revolution continued this week with the appointment of Martyn Williams as team manager – I must admit I didn’t see that coming! Nugget – as everyone calls Martyn – used to give Alan Phillips a bit of banter about his role in the team when we were playing together. Now he’s replacing him! I can’t believe it! Alan – or Thumper as all the players have called him down the years – has been an incredible servant to Welsh rugby and it’s only right I pay tribute to him this week.
