FORMER Leicester Tigers defence coach Scott Hansen will replace Brad Mooar as assistant coach at the Crusaders for next year's Super Rugby campaign.
Hansen's short stint at Welford Road lasted 15 months before he was relieved of his duties.
The opportunity now presents itself for the Canterbury- native to re-join the coaching ranks headed up by Scott Robertson, as Mooar departs to take charge of the Scarlets.
Robertson and Hansen worked together earlier this decade in New Zealand's provincial club rugby league. And after time spent coaching in Japan with the Sunwolves, Hansen has agreed a twoyear contract with the Super Rugby champions.
The Crusaders head coach said: “I've known Scott a long time, he's a proud Cantabrian, and a former Crusader who stepped away from the coaching environment here in order to gain valuable experience overseas.
“He's an incredibly hard worker and we have a great connection having coached together previously, so I value his input immensely.”
Hansen left Leicester in October 2016 as a leaky defence hindered the team's start to the season, conceding 126 points in their first five matches.
