Operating costs far outweigh central funding

WELSH Premiership clubs are considering the implementation of a salary cap or pay banding system as the division continues to battle ongoing and severe financial difficulties.
Last season saw famous sides Pontypridd, Ebbw Vale and Cross Keys all appeal for monetary support while four teams were relegated from the division into the Championship.
For the 2019-20 campaign the Premiership – which has seen new sponsor Indigo Group succeed Principality – will be made up of 12 teams.
