No fanfare over McGeechan exit

LIONS hero Sir Ian McGeechan, right, arrived at York-shire Carnegie almost seven years ago with great fanfare but this week quietly left the club as they face up to an uncertain future. His arrival as chairman in July 2012 was done in the traditional way via a media conference.
His departure couldn’t have been more different as it was done the modern way via social media on twitter.
The 72-yearold’s wife, Judy, announced on Thursday morning that he was leaving, before a sixhour board meeting to save the ailing club.
