Nathan Pope might have been a footballer had things turned out differently.
Born and bred in the Isle of Man, Pope came on to the radar of Blackburn Rovers at the age of nine and, thanks to his father, who had a pilot’s license, quickly became accustomed to hopping across to the mainland as a potential life in the Football League beckoned.
