Wanted: Philip van der Walt

DEAN RICHARDS is pressing ahead with a bid to sign South African Philip van der Walt despite not knowing if Newcastle Falcons will beat the drop. Richards wanted to bring Sharks No.8 Van der Walt to Kingston Park earlier in the year to help fight the drop into the Championship.
He was unable to get the deal across the line but he hasn’t given up on landing the 29-year-old, who also plays flanker, for next season.
