Goneva try helps Fiji open title defence with win over Samoa

NEWCASTLE wing Vereniki Goneva was on the scoresheet as Fiji began their Pacific Nations Cup title defence with a tense 24-22 win over Samoa.
Fiji led 24-3 before Samoa scored three tries in a late rally which rocked the defending champions.
La Rochelle’s Kini Murimurivalu scored Fiji’s first try from a pass by Goneva before the Falcons flyer scored his team’s fourth and last try from an offload by Murimurivalu.
