FIFTY years ago this weekend the 1968 Lions beat Western Transvaal 20-12 at Potchefstroom at the start of a threemonth tour that historically has gone down as little more than a footnote.
Sandwiched between the glories of 1971 and 1974 and the disappointment of unsuccessful trips in 1962 and 1966, it was chalked up as another Lions failure ‘down south’ and rarely gets mentioned other than some rather overblown references to a couple of instances...
