‘Stylish’ Scarlets are right fit for me says Cassiem

UZAIR Cassiem has revealed how he shunned other lucrative offers to sign for the in the hope of winning silverware.

The eight-times capped loose forward was heavily linked with a move to but instead opted to join 's side.

Cassiem also believes the Scarlets have the potential to become the first Welsh side to win the .

“I did have a few other offers but the Scarlets sold it to me by the style of rugby they play and the fact they want to win silverware,” he said.

“We play this game to get silverware and hopefully we can do that at the Scarlets. I've won the Currie Cup and the Vodacom Cup and I want to win more silverware with the Scarlets.

“They won the PRO12 last season and they are in the Champions Cup quarter finals this season. They have a desire to win titles and that's what sold it to me.”

Cassiem was also attracted by the Scarlets' style of play and is excited to link up with the Scarlets' internationals.

“The brand of rugby they play is similar to the Cheetahs so I am not going to feel uncomfortable,” he said.

“I will fulfil the same role as I am currently filling with the Cheetahs. I didn't want to go to a place where I had to change my game.

“I've played against Jonathan Davies, Ken Owens and Scott Williams so it's going to be nice to link up with them.”
