GLOUCESTER have spoken to former South Africa lock Johan Ackermann, the current Lions coach, about moving to Kingsholm next season.
Ackermann, below, who won 13 Test caps for the Springbok has been coaching the Lions and Golden Lions for the last four years.
The Cherry and Whites are looking to replace Laurie Fisher who announced he was leaving the club on Twitter last weekend following the defeat to Harlequins.
Ackermann, 46, had a one-year spell playing for Northampton Saints in 2001/02. He is thinking over the offer that has been made.
My sources tell me he would rather have a director of rugby role than a head coaches job, which if it is a deal breaker could mean he stays in South Africa.
I have also been told that Matt O'Connor could be a target but he is the favourite to return to Welford Road and take over at Leicester.
