Read suffers thumb injury and is doubt to face Lions

ALL BLACKS captain Kieran Read was in hospital last night after suffering a susprected broken thumb in the Crusaders victory over Cheetahs.
The Crusaders maintained their unbeaten run with a comfortable 48-21 win over the Cheetahs thanks to another hat-trick from George Bridge but the departure of Read shortly before halftime will be a concern for Steve Hansen.
Read, who has only just returned from wrist surgery in the off season, left the field late in the first half and will undergo surgery which puts him in doubt for the Lions series.
