ROSS Moriarty’s late try clinched a see-saw quarterfinal that hinged on the 48th minute sending off of French second row Sebastien Vahaamahina.
Until the towering Clermont lock was red-carded by referee Jaco Peyper for a blatant elbow strike to the jaw of Wales flanker Aaron Wainwright, the unfancied French led the Six Nations champions 19-10, and were threatening one of the upsets of the tournament.
