Dump the penalty kick-off farce

WHEN it comes to over-complicating the tiebreaker in the event of a drawn World Cup final – semi-final, or quarter- final – the lawmakers are making a good job of it.
At the moment, if a World Cup final, or other knock-out match, finishes level after 80 minutes, then 20 minutes of extra-time is played, in two ten minute halves.
If the match remains tied after extra-time, a further ten minutes of single ‘Sudden Death’ extra-time is played. During this extension the first team to score any points is immediately declared the winner.
