Rocky lands killer blow on former club Wasps

ROCKY CLARK came back to haunt her old club as her try helped continue their unbeaten start to the Tyrrells Premier 15s season against . Mackenzie Carson and Poppy Cleall also dotted down, with prop Hannah Botterman going over twice as Alex Austerberry's team edged past a spirited Wasps side at Twyford Avenue.

It was a fast start from the visitors, who got their first try on just eight minutes as hooker Carson bulldozed over from close range.

And the front-row scoring spree continued shortly after, as tighthead Botterman was able to capitalise on a loose Wasps lineout to crash over.

Fly-half Lizzie Goulden kept things ticking over for Wasps from the tee, notching six points before half-time and three at the start of the second half to reduce the hosts' deficit to eight points heading into the final half-hour.

But that all changed on 55 minutes when veteran Clark, who left Wasps in 2017, showed all her experience to go over in the corner after an unstoppable maul.

The hosts rallied however, scoring their first try just eight minutes later as replacement Maud Muir capped off an impressive team move to make for an interesting climax.

But Sarries hit back immediately for the bonus point, as Botterman demonstrated her strength again to bundle over after an incisive break by Zoe Harrison.

And despite a late Wasps effort from full-back Abby Dow, Sarries scored again through Cleall in the final minutes to seal a hardearned away victory.

Sarries' fifth win in as many games this season, with the added bonus point, keeps them just a point behind leaders .
