A CLINICAL Loughborough Lightning outfit were truly on form as they put 14 tries past the Firwood Waterloo defence, securing a 76-8 bonus point win.

Lightning set the pace from the get go, pressuring the Waterloo defence at all possible moments, as Ellen Ramsbottom darted through a gap to cross the line within minutes.

Ramsbottom's score was the first of seven first-half tries, which also saw Rhona Lloyd cross for two and both Bethan Zeidler and Olivia Jones in for one each as the home side opened up a 44-3 lead at the break.

It was more of the same in the second period as Zeidler completed her hat-trick with two quickfire scores within minutes of the restart.

She was repeatedly found by some impressive cross-field kicking by Katy Daley-Mclean and dotted down twice to extend the hosts' lead even further and rack up the scoreboard.

Sarah Hunter crashed over, before Carys Williams added to her first-half score by weaving her way through the Waterloo defence to touch down and stretch the advantage to 64- 3.

Rachel Malcolm then powered over the line after returning from injury, before Firwood crossed late on for their solitary try of the match.

However, the dominant home side had the final word as Zeidler added another for her afternoon's collection and completed the scoring at 76-8.

It was Loughborough's 12th victory in 15 matches this season and keeps up the momentum as they seek to maintain the pressure on the leading duo of and
