Newport make it a triple affair

NEWPORT added the Super Rygbi Cymru Challenger Shield to the SRC Trophy and SRC Cup they already hold after defeating Gwent rivals Ebbw Vale 44-17 at Eugene Cross Park.
The result saw league leaders Ebbw finally surrender their grip on the Shield they had held since October 5, 2024 and 14 successful defences across two seasons.
Similar to New Zealand’s Ranfurly Shield, the ‘holder’ puts up the Shield for competition in every home game in the regular league season.
