IT’S now only one defeat in 12 matches for Cambridge after they edged out Sale in a pulsating contest at Grantchester Road.
That win looked unlikely as the hosts withstood 40 minutes of sustained pressure and went in 5-0 down at the break. Sale threw the proverbial kitchen sink at the Blood & Sand in the first half, dominating territory and possession from the off.
Crucially, though, the home defence held firm and their set-piece was never out-gunned.
