REDRUTH battled back in an error strewn game to get their season underway with a victory.
The Reds scrum was the trump card, with prop Tommy Phillips to the fore, as they established dominance over the visitors at the setpiece.
Old Reds made the most of the slope in the first half, with Andy Butler going over for a five-pointer with Dan Fry and Lex Valentino involved.
A loose kick led to the visitor’s second, as Finn Murphy returned a kick in style with the supporting Valentino on hand to dot down.
