Joe joyful with clinical kicking

JOE Wilson kicked the crucial points as Hinckley held on for an important home win against Wharfedale.

It was a very unusual game at De Montford Park, as Wharfedale were unable to make the most of their dominance and territory.

Hinckley made the faster start, opening the scoring after just four minutes through flanker Henry Povoas, with Wilson clinically on the money with the conversion.

The away side then took control but after spurring several good opportunities, the hosts scored again on only their second visit to Whardedale's 22.

This time it was hooker Adam Johnson who scored, powering over from close range with Wilson also converting to make it 14-0 at the break.

The second half was very much like the first with the away side knocking on the door but never being allowed in despite the hosts having three yellow cards.

Dale eventually got themselves on the scoreboard after 75 minutes through captain George Hedgley.

And they thought Jack Blakeney-Edwards' conversion had rescued the them a losing bonus-boint at 14-7.

However, with the last kick of the game, Wilson slotted a penalty to send Wharfedale back north with nothing to show for their substantial efforts.
