INJURY-HIT Barnstaple battled bravely, but were unable to stave off defeat by Bury St Edmunds.
A young Barnstaple team plucked from an injury-ravaged squad did very well to hold their opponents to a pointless first half, defending superbly and looking to counter at every opportunity.
Missing several experienced first-team players, the Devon side performed heroics, making their tackles and turning over critical ball as they absorbed the pressure from a decent Bury St Edmunds team.
