Farewell to Hale, one of Cardiff rugby’s favourites

CARDIFF’S oldest player (definitely) and Wales’ most venerable player (arguably) passed away this week when Graham Hale died aged 97.
Remarkably Hale scored the winning try at the Middlesex Sevens nearly 80 years ago in 1939, when Wilf Wooller took a hastily assembled Cardiff squad up to Twickenham and beat a star-studded London Scottish – Sevens specialists – in the final.
