Mallinder hits winner after Wood sees red

NORTHAMPTON defied the odds to book their place in next season’s Champions Cup after fighting back from 22-16 with only 13 men against Stade Francais on Friday night.
Saints looked set to end a difficult season by missing out on Europe’s top competition for the first time in eight years when Tom Wood was sent off on 63 minutes for a stamp on Djibril Camara’s head in a ruck, even though the replay pictures looked inconclusive.
A suspension would rule Wood out of England’s tour to Argentina.
