Ryan: We stood up to pack onslaught

STAR man John Ryan admitted the scoreline flattered his team after being made to work hard for the victory.

“It was a tough game and the floodgates only really opened in the last five minutes, the score was pretty flattering to us to be honest,” he said.

“We are absolutely delighted to be in the semi-final again. There were some nervous moments but we kept making the hits and doing the hard yards and we got our rewards in the end.

“They made a statement by coming over with a 6-2 split in their subs so we knew they were going to come after us in the scrum and maul and I thought we stood up to it well.”

Toulouse skipper Thierry Dusautoir said: “We have to say congratulations to the Munster men today, they were simply the better team.

“We made too many mistakes and gave away too many penalties that could be kicked which kept us under pressure. We couldn’t get the field positon to threaten to score tries.”
