Premiership owners must be kept in check by RFU Council

THERE is a virtual ring fence in place already when it comes to promotion and relegation, with the side relegated from the Premiership to the Championship almost guaranteed to come straight back up.
This is because of a funding disparity of £4.5m in ‘parachute payments’ which gives the relegated club a huge advantage in terms of spending power on players and coaches than their Championship rivals.
