Benetton fightback stuns Lions in Jo’burg

BENETTON staged a composed second-half comeback to open their campaign with an impressive 26-28 away victory against Lions in Johannesburg.
The Italians struck early through Rhyno Smith but trailed 10–8 at half-time after Lions tries from Kelly Mpeku and Ruan Venter.
Momentum shifted when Mpeku was sin-binned, allowing Benetton to take control. Leonardo Marin crossed twice in four minutes, both converted by Tomas Albornoz, who added a penalty and a late drop goal to seal the win.
